A business can register phone numbers under the “Registration” section of the console. Hiya recommends registering all phone numbers in use by your business, regardless of the purpose of their phone calls. Phone numbers can either be registered via uploading a file or by entering them manually.
Proper phone number formats
All numbers should be in E.164 standard format, regardless of how you choose to add them in the console. This format begins with a “+” (plus) sign, followed by your country’s international dialing code (for example, 1 for the United States or 34 for Spain), followed by your national phone number, with no spaces.
Registering via a file upload
To upload a batch of phone numbers at once:
- Select “Phone numbers” in the “Registration” section of the console.
- Click “ADD/REMOVE NUMBERS” at the top right of the page..
- Drag and drop your properly-formatted list of phone numbers onto your browser window, or click “browse your computer” and choose the file containing the phone numbers.
- Provide a job name for this upload. The job name is an internal label that makes it easier for you to reference and categorize your phone numbers in the console. It is strongly recommended to choose a job name that reflects the type of phone numbers included in your upload; for example, “Tampa office desk phones”, or “Call center lines”.
- Click “Begin upload” to start the upload and registration process.
The uploaded phone numbers file should contain each individual phone number on a separate line, with no additional data. If the file includes a header value (common for CSV files), it will be ignored.
Registering via manual entry
To manually add phone numbers:
- Select “Phone numbers” in the “Registration” section of the console.
- Click “ADD/REMOVE NUMBERS”.
- Click “Add manually”.
- In the main entry box, enter each phone number on a separate line.
- Click “Submit” to begin the registration process.
Registration process for new phone numbers
All added phone numbers will first be verified by Hiya Vetting Services team to confirm the numbers are legitimate and to ensure the phone numbers do not belong to a different business. Only register phone numbers in possession and use by your business.
During this process, phone numbers will appear in the list of phone numbers as “Pending”. Once successfully vetted and registered, the status will change to “Registered”.
Issues with registering phone numbers
If a phone number cannot be registered, the status will show as “Needs attention”. While viewing your list of phone numbers, click on the status of any number in this state to see more details and recommended actions to address the registration issue.
